Patricia Carol Raynor
Hanchey
Dec 1, 1958 — Feb 23, 2013
Patricia "Pat" Carol Raynor Hanchey, 54, of Wallace was granted her angel wings on Saturday, February 23, 2013. Her final days were spent doing the things she most loved such as spending every free minute with her family, especially her husband, her girls and her grandchildren.
Pat, as she was affectionately called, was born December 1, 1958 in New Hanover County. She was the daughter of Mack Neil and Emma Stokes Raynor of Wallace.
Pat was a graduate of Wallace-Rose Hill, Class of 1977 and a member of the Fabulous Fifty's Club from that class. She attended Wallace UMC where she enjoyed worshipping and playing the hand bells. With a loving heart and gentle spirit Pat developed many lasting friendships as a hair stylist at Seaside Salon. Not only was Pat a great hair stylist, but with her many talents she could style or arrange flowers, wreaths and most everything she touched. Most of all, Pat touched many lives in the short life she lived on this earth and will continue touching many lives now and in the future.
Surviving to cherish her memories, in addition to her loving parents, is her best friend and devoted husband of 37 years, Johnny Lane Hanchey; two daughters whom she adored, Fayth H. Herring and husband, Chris and Scarlet Alanna Hanchey, all of Wallace; her grandchildren and the light of her life, Jonae` Herring, Taylor Herring and Hayes Moore; her caring sister, Delean Wooten and husband, Chuck of Maple Hill; special nephews, Stephen and Brian Knowles and numerous nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
A Celebration of Life will be held at 6:00pm on Thursday, February 28, 2013 at Wallace United Methodist Church conducted by Pat's pastor, the Reverend Dr. J. Robert Kretzu and the Reverend Gary Manning. Following the service, there will be a reception in Pat's honor where her family will receive friends.
Always vigilant and seeing to the needs of her family and friends, these characteristics defined Pat's very essence. She always put the needs of others before herself. Although her life seem so short we know her legacy will live on forever in the lives of those she loved and touched while on this earth and also to those whom she will continue to touch because of her giving spirit and loving heart. Pat will surely be missed but we will not say goodbye but 'see ya later' when we meet again in God's Heavenly Kingdom where there will be eternal peace.
In lieu of flowers the family request that memorial gifts be sent to Carolina Donor Services, 909 E. Arlington Blvd., Greenville, NC 27858 or to Wallace UMC - Music Ministry, 301 S. College Street, Wallace, NC 28466.
