Patrick "Pat" Noel Pyland, born September 1, 1943 in Paso Robles, California passed from this earth on June 1, 2026 to join his beloved wife, Mary Ruth Bowden Pyland. Pat leaves behind his sons and daughters-in-law, Kevin and Sandy Pyland and Brian and Virginia Pyland; grandchildren, Amber Pyland, Seth Pyland, Cody Jones, Tiffany Corum, and Wade Pyland; one great grandchild, Aubrey Marie; many extended family and friends. Pat was preceded in death by his parents, James Lee Pyland and Anna Yarbrough Pyland.

Patrick served proudly as a Sergeant in the US Marine Corps. A favorite saying of Pat's was "Once a Marine always a Marine."  Patrick was retired from General Electric Company in Castle Hayne, having worked in both Aircraft Parts Division and Nuclear Fuel Division.

Pat loved his family and his grandkids all affectionally called him Papa, which made him smile. Pat possessed a keen intellect and was a self-taught computer programmer as he was a computer wizard. For fun Pat enjoyed car racing and cars in general. Pat was quiet in manner and in thought, word and deed. Pat leaves an empty place in our family circle and in our hearts.

The family will receive friends 6 to 8:00 p.m. Thursday, June 4, 2026 at Quinn McGowen Funeral Home Burgaw Chapel.

The graveside funeral service will be 11:00 a.m. Friday, June 5, 2026 at Burgaw Cemetery with Reverend Danny Justice conducting the service.
