We are so sad to share the loss of a wonderful Christian man, Patrick Michael Watkins at the age of 58 years. He passed suddenly and unexpectedly on Tuesday, December 19, 2023 leaving an empty place in our family circle and in our hearts.

Patrick was born May 12, 1965 in Wilmington, the son of Lecolon Horace Watkins and Mary Frances Puskas Watkins, both who preceded Patrick in death.

He is survived by his loving wife of eight years, Shannon Watkins; children, Hayden Watkins, Dylan Watkins,  Brittany May (Cody), and Brett  Watts (Camryn Corriher); grandson, Candor; sisters, Susan Thomas (Tommy), Janet Harris (Nick), Mary Jane Phelps (Jamie); brother, Ray Watkins (Caroline); many nieces, nephews and extended family.

Patrick graduated from NC State in 1987. He began his career with ATD Construction in 1987 for 30+ years before moving to Thomas Construction where he was Senior Superintendent on multiple large projects in the surrounding area. He took great pride in his work with no corners cut, only top quality, that was his only way to do things.

As a Christian man he was very involved in his church family at Wrightsboro Baptist Church and previously at St. Stanislaus Catholic Church where he was instrumental in the construction of the new church building.

Patrick was a dedicated father and hunter. He was a long-time member of Burgaw Hunting Club. He shared his love of hunting with his two sons, Hayden and Dylan. They spent countless hours together in the woods enjoying the sport together.

He was also an avid fisherman. When he married Shannon, he gained not only his soulmate but his "fishing buddy". They spent many long days together enjoying each other, the ocean and their love of fishing.

Patrick gained a stepdaughter, Brittany and stepson, Brett, when he and Shannon married. He loved spending time with them and sharing his love with both of them. He was so happy when he became a Grandpappy to Candor, Brittany's son, you could see his face light up when he was around him.

The family will receive friends at 1:00 p.m. Friday, December 22, 2023 at Wrightsboro Baptist Church with funeral service beginning at 2:00 p.m. The Rev. Eddie Eaton will conduct the service.

Burial will follow in Walker Family Cemetery, Willard, NC.

In lieu of flowers memorial gifts in memory of Patrick may be given to Wrightsboro Baptist Church Building and Grounds Fund, 2736 Castle Hayne Road, NC 28401.
