Paul Roger DeLaire

Feb 25, 1969 — Oct 31, 2026

Wilmington, NC

Paul Roger DeLaire, 57, passed away peacefully in his sleep on October 31, 2026, following a brief battle with cancer.

Born on February 25, 1969, at Saint Joseph’s Hospital in Ann Arbor, Michigan, Paul lived a life filled with adventure, passion, and an unmistakable spirit of fearlessness. Throughout his life, he called many beautiful places home, including Arizona, Maui, California, and for the longest chapter of his life, North Carolina.

From the young age of three, Paul demonstrated a natural love for adventure and excitement. A true daredevil at heart, he was fearless in his pursuit of life’s thrills. Whether he was enjoying the ocean and its many water sports, snowboarding down a mountain, mountain biking, skydiving, or riding motorcycles, Paul was happiest when he was on the move. Sitting still was simply never his style. He embraced life with an adventurous spirit and a willingness to take on whatever challenge came his way.

Like his father, Paul had a remarkable talent for woodworking, craftsmanship, and building. What began as a natural ability became both a lifelong passion and a career for much of his life. He took pride in working with the skill and determination that came so naturally to him.

Those who knew Paul understood that beneath his tough exterior was a genuinely gentle heart. He was fiercely loyal, protective of those he loved, and always willing to stand up for his family and friends. His strength, adventurous nature, and unwavering loyalty were qualities that made him unforgettable to those fortunate enough to know him.

Paul was preceded in death by his loving parents, Roger Thomas DeLaire and Sharon Anne Kramer-DeLaire.

He is survived by his brothers, Randy Buzzelli, Nick Buzzelli, and Mike DeLaire, and his sisters, Kelly DeLaire and Lore DeLaire.

He also leaves behind his nephews, Shanen Siliga, Rogan Little, Niko Buzzelli, and Remi Roberts; and his nieces, Leilani Siliga, Liya Siliga, Shey DeLaire, Ali Buzzelli, Gina Buzzelli, Olivia Buzzelli, and Sienna Buzzelli.

Paul also leaves behind many dear friends whose lives he touched throughout the years and who will remember his loyalty, strength, and generous heart.

Although his final battle with cancer was brief, Paul’s life was anything but ordinary. He lived with courage, embraced adventure, and left behind memories that will continue to be cherished by those who loved him.

May the ocean always be beneath you, the wind always at your back, and your adventurous spirit forever free.

Moe i ke aloha, Paul.

Rest in love.
