Obituary

Paul Ray Guyton, 70, of Rocky Point passed from his earthly life to his eternal rest on Friday, September 9, 2011 at New Hanover Regional Medical Center surrounded by his family and friends.

He was born February 4, 1941 in Pender County, the youngest child of the late James Woodbury and Katie White Guyton.

Paul is survived by his loving family; his wife of 26 years, Beverly Cooke Guyton; children, Curtis Guyton (Bonnie), Ricky Guyton (Tonya), Michelle Jacobs (Mark), and Mickey Mincey (Carmin); grandchildren, Christi Fuhr, Adam Guyton (Brittany) and their baby, Reagan (first great granddaughter due in November), Sam Guyton, Joaquim Mincey, Kristie Lee, and Brett Jacobs; brothers, J. W. Guyton, Edward Guyton, and Joseph Guyton (Kathy); sister, Annie Pearl Woodcock (Roy Lee); many nieces and nephews; Paul's special "children-Boston Terriers", Lexie and Layla Guyton; special friend and fishing buddy, Ben Andrews; and long-time friend and co-worker, Ned Pearce.

Paul retired with 35 years of service with Martin-Marietta Materials.

Paul was an outgoing, fun loving man who loved his family especially his grandchildren more than words can express. So many family oriented things he loved; camping, playing cards, and family gatherings. He also enjoyed taking time to fish and garden in God's bountiful world. Paul's faith in God, his laughter, his big smile, his jokes and his genuine zest for life will always be treasured by family and friends.

Graveside funeral service will be at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, September 14, 2011 at Oleander Memorial Gardens with Pastor Don Yerby officiating. The family will receive friends 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Tuesday at Quinn-McGowen Funeral Home in Burgaw.

Special thanks to Dr. David Weaver, Dr. William Buchanan, NHRMC VitaLink crew, staffs of Cardiac Cath Lab (especially, Joseph Guyton) and CCU (especially Jennifer) and all who expressed their kindness and concern during this difficult time.
