Paul Edward Shaffer, 79, of Wallace left this earthly life for his eternal rest on Tuesday, April 19, 2016 from Lower Cape Fear Hospice Care Center.

He was born on November 18, 1936 in Miami, Florida and was the last survivor of 7 children.

Paul served his country honorably in the US Air Force.

He will be missed by his best friend and fiancé, Wilodine Rhodes of Wallace, his canine companion, "Mr. Buck" and his friends at the lake.

Paul enjoyed working on old cars and keeping his yard pretty as well as clean. He loved his family and friends and of course, " Mr. Buck". Paul will surely be missed but treasured memories will forever live in the hearts of those who knew and loved Paul Shaffer.

At Paul's wish, he was cremated with no services.

God said you were getting tired
and a cure was not to be.
So He put His arms around you
and He whispered, "Come to me".
With tearful eyes we watched you
and saw you pass away,
and although we loved you dearly,
we could not make you stay.
A golden heart stopped beating;
hard working hands at rest,
God broke our hearts to prove to us
He only takes the best.
