Paul Mark Upton, age 56, passed away after a courageous three-year battle with multiple myeloma cancer on Sunday, October 16, 2016 at Lower Cape Fear Hospice and LifeCareCenter.

He was born November 1, 1959 in Norfolk, Virginia the son of Robert Livious Upton, Jr. and Hazel Fichter Upton. He was predeceased by his nephew, Kenneth Seal.

Paul graduated from Roxbury High School in Succasunna, New Jersey in 1977 and furthered his education with a degree in education from Bob Jones University in Greenville, South Carolina. He taught Biology at Calvary Baptist School in Lansdale, Pennsylvania and Roxbury High School in Succasunna, New Jersey then later followed his passion to become a personal trainer.

Left to cherish his memory are his parents, Robert L. Upton Jr. and Hazel Upton of Wilmington, NC; brother, Robert Upton III (Tonya) of Wilmington, NC; three sisters, Nancy Johnston (Michael) of Wilmington, NC, Joanne Seal (Tony) of Grand Blanc, MI and Joyce Attoe (Joel) of Middlesex, NC; nieces and nephews, Philip Johnston (Beth), James Johnston, Jacquelyn Seal, Katheryn Seal, Leighton Upton (Janelle), Shae Upton, Julianne Attoe and Joel Attoe II; a very special aunt, Joyce Upton of Chesapeake, VA; and numerous other loving family and friends.

A funeral service will be 11 AM Thursday, October 20, 2016 at Quinn McGowen Wilmington Chapel. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. Burial will follow the service at Greenlawn Memorial Park.
