She was born June 18, 1914 in Onslow County, the daughter of the late Micha Franklin and Carrie Wood Barber. She was also predeceased by her husband, Kenneth Issac Lanier, Sr. and daughter, Patricia Wooten Oteifa.

Lanier, Jr. (Joan P.) of Maple Hill; twelve grandchildren; ten great grandchildren; and sister, Marguerite Overstreet of Jacksonville.

Pauline, a true Southern lady, was a devoted wife and diligent mother, grandmother, sister, friend and neighbor. She taught her children independence, integrity, sincerity, and how to laugh and to fix most anything. One always knew where they stood with Pauline as she spoke what was on her mind. Her love of nature and green thumb was revealed in her bountiful garden and beautiful flowers that graced her yard. In younger years one of her many talents was raising birds- cockatiels, love birds and parakeets. Knowing Pauline with her spritely personality brought sunshine into your life and joy to your day. Our lives are blessed and enriched to have walked with Pauline on her life's fruitful journey.
