Peggy Leigh Ellis, 70, of Burgaw died Sunday, November 21, 2021 at New Hanover Regional Medical Center.

She was born June 22, 1951 in Eutawville, SC, the daughter of the late Dwight Ellison West and Ruth Corine Rush West.

Peggy is survived by her sons, Sean Ellis and John "Jay" Simmons; granddaughter, Charlesy Simmons; sisters, Debby Shackelford (Jimmy) and Frances Shields; brothers, Dwight "Bucky" West, Jr. and Frank West; many nieces and nephews.

Peggy was a fun loving lady with a radiant smile. She loved life and was a hard worker. In her spare time, she enjoyed the beach and when it came to playing cards, she loved good game of "Rummy." Peggy's faith and belief in God helped sustain her over the years, along with her love of family and friends. She truly leaves behind a legacy of love, and she will be greatly missed.
