Peggy Jo
Mills
Jul 4, 1935 — Apr 7, 2023
Peggy Jo Bradshaw Mills, 87, of Wallace left this earthly life for her eternal rest on Friday, April 7, 2023.
She was born on July 4, 1935 in Duplin County; the daughter of the late Leslie and Ruby Evans Bradshaw. Mrs. Mills was also preceded in death by her husband of 64 years, Myles Donald "Bud" Mills and her son-in-law Steve Rivenbark.
Surviving to cherish her memory is her son Donald Jerome Mills and wife Angela of Wallace; daughter Sue Mills Rivenbark of Wallace; grandchildren, Ryan Adam Mills and wife, Beth, Allison Mills and Lauren Brooke Rivenbark; great grandchildren, Casey Mills and Cameron Mills; brother, Glenn Bradshaw and wife Barbara of Rose Hill and numerous extended family and friends that loved Peggy dearly.
Peggy was a loving mother and caring grandmother and sister who loved her family with all her heart. She was a woman of uncommon character, beauty and grace; and to those who knew her, "an instrument of God's love on this earth." Peggy was a diligent homemaker, a great cook (especially her 'apple jacks') and a very talented seamstress. Over the years, Peggy made numerous wedding dresses, prom dresses, bridesmaid dresses, bathing suits and many more types of clothing. She was a talented piano player and played for Mills Memorial Church for many years and for United Christian Fellowship Church. She and "Bud" worked endlessly for 45 years in their upholstery shop and acquired many friends during those years. Peggy never met a stranger, and she was loved and respected by all who knew her. Peggy will truly be missed, but cherished memories will forever live in the hearts of those who knew and loved her.
Funeral service will be held at 11:00am on Monday, April 10, 2023 at Quinn-McGowen Funeral Home Wallace Chapel with the Reverend Edward Dowd officiating.
Burial will follow in Riverview Memorial Park, Watha.
The family will receive friends from 10:00am to 11:00am, one hour prior to the funeral at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, the family request that memorial gifts be sent to United Christian Fellowship, PO Box 337, Wallace, NC 28466.
Peggy's family would like to thank the memory care staff of Day Spring Assisted Living for the love and care they gave to Peggy during her 4 year stay with them. The family also would like to express their thanks and appreciation to the staff at Poplar Grove Memory Care for their tender love and care to Peggy.
