Obituary

Peter Currie Dees, Jr., age 66, of Wallace left this earthly life for his eternal rest on Sunday, March 10, 2013 from his residence.

He was born December 17, 1946 in Bennettesville, SC and was the son of the late Peter Currie Dees, Sr. and Margaret Thompson Dees. He was predeceased by his beloved son, Trooper David H. Dees and 2 brothers, James and Charles Dees.

Pete, as he was affectionately called, loved his country and was proud to serve in the US Air Force. With a genuine concern for his fellowman, Pete served his community for 25 years as an EMT-D. He was a dedicated member of First Baptist Church of Wallace and the Baptist Men. Pete also served as a member of the Junior Chamber of Commerce.

Surviving to cherish his memory is his best friend and devoted wife of 48 years, Linda Bowden Dees; sons, John C. Dees and wife, Stephanie of Gainesville, GA and Jordan Zane of Wallace: daughter, Katherine Dees Bunch and husband, Dean of Wallace; grandchildren, Christopher Dees Holland, Bradley Dees Holland, Holly Dees Holland, Erica Dean, Jessica Dean, Stephan Dean, Savannah Dees, Amanda Dees, Heather Freeman and Emily Bunch; great grandson, Zayne Curry; brother, George Dees and wife, Pat; sisters, Carolyn Johnson and husband, Jim and Sandra Dees; daughter-in-law, Donna and numerous nieces, nephews and friends who loved Pete dearly.

Pete was a devoted husband and loving father, grandfather and brother. He found great joy in the simplest of things, but his greatest joy was his family. A man of great integrity, Pete lived his life by example of this simple creed; Do justice, love your neighbor and walk humbly with God. Pete was a proud father of 3 Eagle Scouts and a loving daughter who was his "Special K" and light of his life. Pete's legacy will live on through his children, grandchildren and the many lives he touched while on this earth. Pete will surely be missed, but treasured memories of him will forever remain in the hearts of those who knew and loved him. Pete, you are loved beyond words.... missed beyond measure.
