Obituary

Peter Mizerak, age 90 of Burgaw died Monday, December 1,2008 at his home.

He was born February 10, 1918 in Mayfield, Pennsylvania and was the son of the late Stephen and Barbara Krochta Mizerak.

Mr. Mizerak served his country honorably as a Gunnery Sergeant in the US Marine Corps during WW II and later served eight years in the US Army Ready Reserve. After 42 years of service Mr. Mizerak retired from the US Postal Service. He was a member of St. Peter & Paul Russian Orthodox Church.

Pete was a devoted husband and caring father, grandfather and friend. Many remember Pete helping his son, David, on the farm growing delicious vegetables and beautiful flowers. Pete was a man of honor, integrity and faith who was always considerate of others. Cherished memories of Pete will forever remain in our hearts.

He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Ann Debaylo Mizerak of the home; son, David Mizerak of Burgaw; daughter, Patricia Williams of Burgaw and granddaughter, Jennifer Anne Oswald of Burgaw.

The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Wednesday at Quinn-McGowen Funeral Home and at other times at the Mizerak residence.

A service will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, December 4, 2008 at St. Peter & Paul Russian Orthodox Church with Father Nick Spirakis officiating.

Burial will follow in St. Helena Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, gifts to honor Peter's memory may be made to St. Peter & Paul Russian Orthodox Church, PO Box 664, Burgaw, NC 28425.
