Obituary

Philip Austin Stone, 64 of Rocky Point, passed peacefully from his earthly life on Wednesday, May 31, 2017 at Lower Cape Fear Hospice and LifeCare Center in Wilmington with family by his side.

He was born September 3, 1952 in Robeson County, the son of the late William E. and Louise Bolster Stone.

Philip is survived by his wife of 43 years, Sarah Whitley Stone; son, Lee Stone (Carrie); grandson, Jackson Stone; sister, Diane Worley (James); and brother Stuart Stone (Sandy).

Philip retired in 2009 after working 34 years with NC Wildlife Resources Commission.

Philip was the BEST husband, dad, granddaddy, brother and friend anyone could ask for. Loving being outdoors enjoying all of God's bountiful nature, Philip was an avid hunter and fisherman. Most important in his life was family and the time spent at the beach on their boat, the "Sarah Lee". Philip set an example to others; young, peers and old, by the countless hours he freely gave to others. When Lee was in grade and high school, Philip participated in many school activities with Lee and his friends. What a true joy and honor that the sharing, caring Philip has lived among us
