Philip Alfred Wertz, age 86, of Wilmington, NC passed away on July 25, 2023 at Lower Cape Fear LifeCare in Wilmington, NC.

He was born on May 1, 1937 in Warren County, OH to the late Richard Adam Wertz and Kathleen Chamberlain Wertz.

Philip was an architect for forty years. He was also an artist, photographer and poet. Philip was an alumni of the University of Cincinnati and was in the fraternity Phi Delta Theta. He was a bright light to many and he will be dearly missed.

Philip is survived by his son, Tad Wertz (Dianne); daughters, Polly Jenkins (Duane) and Piper Collopy; brother, Steve Wertz (Sandy); grandchildren, Shelbie Collopy, Aubrey Melko (Michael), Dane Wertz and Nathan Wertz; nephew, Mike Wertz; and nieces, Amy Wertz Cook and Jennifer Wertz Spires.

In addition to his parents, Philip was preceded in death by his brother, Sam Wertz; and niece, Susie Wertz Szturm.
