Phillip Edward Deal, age 75, of Willard passed gently from his earthly life Thursday, December 28, 2023 at his home.

He was born January 24, 1948 in Pender County, the son of the late George Phillip Deal and Maddie Brown Deal.

Phillip is survived by his wife of 55 years, Linda Deal; daughter, Tracy Sermon (Brian); sons, Bobby Deal (Shannon) and Jeffrey Deal (Lyndsey); grandchildren, Dylan Horrell (Savanah), Thomas Deal (Cory), Wyatt Deal, Austin Deal, Peyton Deal and Leighton Deal; brothers, Ray Deal (Elsa) and Eddie Deal (Martha); sisters, Peggy Farrior (Hugh), and Dottie Wells; many nieces, nephews, and friends. Not to be forgotten is Phillip's best canine buddy, Luci.

He served his country with loyalty and pride in the US Army, rising to the rank of Sergeant and serving a tour of duty in Vietnam. He was wounded in Vietnam, receiving a Purple Heart.

Phillip spent much of his working career as a heavy equipment operator with the Civil Service. He was a hard worker and was proficient at working (tinkering) on engines and anything that needed fixing. In his younger years he enjoyed hunting and as he grew older he took up fishing. Most of all Phillip loved and cared for his family. Phillip was loved and will surely be missed.

Funeral service will be 2:00 p.m. Sunday, December 31, 2023 at Quinn McGowen Funeral Home Burgaw Chapel with Pastor Dave Reid conducting the service. The family will receive friends at the funeral home following the service.
