Phillip Byron Eaton, age 71, of Leland, NC passed away on August 16, 2023.

He was born on September 21, 1951 in Wilmington, NC to the late Rufus Brown Eaton and Fannie "Betty" Mae Brown Eaton.

He enjoyed the mountains, working in his yard and mowing his grass. Phillip, who never met a stranger, was a volunteer for The Disabled American Veterans (DAV) organization. He was a retired truck driver for Southco Inc. in Wilmington. Phillip loved his pickup truck but most of all, he loved his family and spending time with them.

Phillip is survived by his wife, Jeanette Skipper; daughter, Karen Currie; brothers, Larry Eaton (Marlene), Eugene Eaton (Jeanne), Marvin Eaton (Alene) and Mike Eaton (Sheila); grandchildren, Connor Currie and Aaron Currie; brother-in-law, Larry Skipper (Doris); mother-in-law, Virginia Skipper; and many other nieces, nephews, family members and friends.

Phillip was preceded in death by his sister, Sheryl Eaton; and brother-in-law, Dennis Lee Skipper.

A funeral service will be held at Quinn McGowen Funeral Home in Wilmington on Monday, August 21, 2023 at 2:00 pm with Pastor Ray Mintz officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. Burial will follow the service at Farmers Chapel Baptist Church Cemetery in Leland, NC.
