Phillip Sloan Wells, age 74, of Rose Hill left this earthly life for his eternal rest on Thursday, March 5, 2020 from New Hanover Regional Medical Center.

He was born on April 29, 1945 in Duplin County and was the son of the late David Harding and Kathleen Lanier Wells.  He was also predeceased by his wife, Mary Jones Wells and his brother, Melvin Wells.

Mr. Wells proudly served in the US Army during the Vietnam Era.

Surviving to cherish his memory are his daughters, Ivy Susan Wells and Karen Lynn Wells, both of Rose Hill; grandchildren, Ashleigh Taylor Thornton, Sloan Alexander Fields and Kyle Zachary Fields; brother, David Harding Wells, Jr. and wife, Ellen of Wilmington; sister-in-law, Peggy Wells of Wallace and numerous extended family and friends.

Phillip was a devoted and loving father, grandfather and brother.  He found great joy in the simplest things, but his greatest joy was spending time with his family. Being somewhat of a quiet man, Phillip was very particular about the everything he did.  He tried to master perfection in his work and in his everyday life.  He could tell great stories and jokes that were always interesting and sometimes funny. Phillip loved the outdoors….gardening and fishing. He will surely be missed but never forgotten.  Phillip's family is grateful to God for his life and for your kindness, friendship and prayers.

Graveside service will be held at 2:00pm on Sunday, March 8, 2020 at Rockfish Memorial Cemetery.
