Phillip George
Woods
April 15, 1969 – September 30, 2023
Phillip George Woods, beloved husband, son, daddy, and friend has left earth too soon. Saturday, September 30, 2023, Phillip went home to join the angels and sing in God's choir.
He was born April 15, 1969 in Pittsburgh, PA, the son of Paula Woods, a reading specialist, and the late Dr. Paul Booker Woods, a college professor. Raised to love education and history, Phillip had a brilliant mind and was excellent with numbers.
Growing up, Philip was a baseball player and he always wondered if he might have ended up in the major leagues had he truly pursued the sport. He found his true talent in golf.
He participated in the Gifted and Talented program in the Chapel Hill-Carrboro City Schools. After graduating from Orange High School in 1987, he attended Appalachian State University where he earned a degree in business and went on to pursue a career in hospitality and the food service industry.
When he met his wife Cayse, it was love at first sight. She was his banker and they were absolutely made for each other. They were married in November of 2016. Exactly one year and one week later their daughter Chloe was born. She is the youngest of their three children.
Philip was a faithful member of Wallace First Assembly of God. He was a "gentle giant" who cast a beacon of love, laughter, and genuine kindness to all who crossed his path. He was quick to offer a smile, words of encouragement, or the shirt off his back. His enjoyments in life were fishing, golf, cooking, and sharing meals with others. Vacations were a must! Quality time was too!
Most of all his family was his pride and joy in life. Phillip's passing leaves an empty place in our family circle and in our hearts.
In addition to his mother, Phillip is survived by his wife, Cayse Woods; children, Jenna Lee Woods, Holden Gator Tabor and Chloe Lyse Woods; and a host of family and friends, all who loved Phillip.
Phillip's last gift given in this world was the gift of life to someone by organ donation through Honor Bridge.
Celebration of Phillip's Life will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, November 4, 2023 at Wallace First Assembly of God, 212 W. Main Street, Wallace, NC 28466. Pastor Leo Brachen and Rev. Dr. Len Meyers will conduct the service.
