Raymond Carl
Mccoy
Mar 13, 1936 — Apr 6, 2024
Raymond Carl McCoy, age 88, flew on wings of angels to his heavenly home on Saturday, April 6, 2024 to join his beloved wife of 52 years, Margaret Dixon McCoy. Raymond was at his home surrounded with love by family.
He was born March 13, 1936 in Pender County the son of Archibald Frederick McCoy, Sr. and Lessie Eugenia Murray McCoy.
Raymond is survived by his three beloved daughters, Carlette M. Stanley (Damon), Amy M. Everett (Kevin), and Gloria M. Harvey (Erik); grandchildren, Jessica Stanley, Jeremy Stanley (Hunter), Erin Harvey, Erica Harvey, and Trent Harvey; great grandchildren; Magnolia and Junior; sisters, Judy Andrews (Floyd) and Diane Boswell; brother, Fred McCoy (Janice McCoy); several nieces, nephews, and many friends.
Raymond served his country proudly in the US Army. He retired after working many years with the US Department of Agriculture as a Food Inspector. He was a faithful member of Hopewell Presbyterian Church.
He was a vegetable gardener and a superb fisherman. Every year Raymond had a big garden, growing enough for family and plenty to share. His BIG tomatoes were the talk of the town. He and Margaret enjoyed nothing better than putting the boat in the water and catching a mess of fish. After Margaret went to heaven Carlette was often his fishing buddy. Most of all Raymond was a true family man who dearly loved and cared for his family.
A graveside service will be 3:00 p.m. Wednesday, April 10, 2024 at Riverview Memorial Park with Rev. Ralph Evans conducting the service. The family will receive friends at the cemetery following the graveside service.
In appreciation for the excellent care given to Raymond and for family support the entire McCoy family would like to extend a special and grateful thankyou to Charlotte Mohn and Monica Bass.
In lieu of flowers the family kindly request that memorial gifts be given to Lower Cape Fear LifeCare Foundation, 1414 Physicians Drive, Wilmington, NC 28401.
