Obituary

Rebecca "Becky" Jane Butler, 52, of Rocky Point went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Friday, May 11, 2012 at her home surrounded by her loving family.

She was born on April 17, 1960 in Akron, Ohio, the daughter of Hazel Bevington Pridgen of Rocky Point and the late LeRoy Bevington.

In addition to her mother, Becky is survived by her devoted husband of 34 years, Ronald Butler; sons, Christopher Butler of Myrtle Beach and Kenneth Butler (Robin) of Wilmington; grandchildren, Colby Butler and Tristan Butler; brothers, Donald Bevington (Andie) and Jeffrey Bevington (Stacey) all of California and numerous extended family and friends. Becky also leaves behind her constant canine companion, Jelly Bean.

Becky loved with all of her heart and her radiant smile brightened the life of everyone she knew. She was a devoted wife, mother, daughter, sister and the joy of her life was her grandchildren. Filled with kindness, compassion, joy and laughter, Becky welcomed everyone she met into her wide circle of extended family members and friends. One of Becky's passions was her garden and flowers. She was a gift to this world and loved by so many. For the past eight months Becky's Christian faith and courage has sustained her as she fought a valiant battle with cancer. Becky truly leaves a legacy of faith, love and hope. Becky's family is grateful for all acts of kindness and prayers that have lent them support during her illness. We thank God, our Heavenly Father, for the gift of friends and pray His eternal blessings to all.
