The Rev. Elliotte LeRoy Brewton, Jr. (Roy), 87, of Wilmington, North Carolina, peacefully went home to be with his Lord and Savior on Sunday morning, July 12, 2026, at home surrounded by his loving family.

Roy is survived by his beloved wife, Martha “Bebe” Steward Brewton; his children, Elizabeth Angel, Elliotte LeRoy Hill (Lynn), Beverly Brewton Leonard (Ron) and Rebecca “Becky” Brewton Holland (Byron); his sister, Elaine Brewton Besalski; his grandchildren, Dustin Segrest, Veronica Navarez (Paul), Nick Lush (Erica), Maddie Miller Nichols (Ryan), Bonnie Miller McKee (Quinn), Holly Leonard Taylor (Marcus), Sean Edge Leonard, Hailey Anne Leonard, Michael Casey Jones, Mia Adison Holland, Sophia Daye Holland; nine great grandchildren, as well as loving in-laws, cousins, nieces and nephews.

Roy was preceded in death by his parents, Elliotte LeRoy Brewton, Sr, and Eunice Stogner Brewton, and his sister Barbara Brewton Ryals Rhodes.

Roy was born on August 19, 1938, in Orlando, FL. He attended schools in Orlando, FL and Darlington School in Rome, GA. He then served in the United States Army as an artilleryman.

After active duty, he graduated from Florida State University in Tallahassee, Fl with a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Management. He attended Rochester Institute of Technology in New York specializing in Printing Management. Roy returned to Orlando and joined his father in the Brewton Company, the family printing business. Upon his father’s death, he purchased the company and ran it for 15 years. He was active in Kiwanis, a member of Sigma Alpha Epsilon and Delta Sigma Pi business fraternity.

Roy married Martha “Bebe” Steward with whom he enjoyed fifty six years of marriage. Although their families had known each other for many years, they met as adults at First Presbyterian Church in Orlando where they co-lead a singles group and sang in the choir together. He was also a Sunday School teacher and Superintendent.

At the age of 40, Roy felt a call into full-time church ministry. He attended Columbia Theological Seminary in Decatur, Georgia. He faithfully served five churches with Bebe: First Presbyterian Church, Mariana, Florida; Dodson Memorial Presbyterian Church, Oxford, Alabama; Burgaw Presbyterian Church, Burgaw, North Carolina; Northminster Presbyterian Church, Sarasota, Florida; and Caswell Presbyterian Church, Atkinson, North Carolina. In retirement, Roy and Bebe were active at Windemere Presbyterian Church in Wilmington, NC and he supplied pulpits for other Presbyterian churches in the Presbytery of Coastal Carolina.

A Celebration of Life will be held at 3:00 pm on Tuesday, July 21, 2026, at Windermere Presbyterian Church in Wilmington, North Carolina and available online for those unable to attend. The family will receive friends and visitors starting at 2:00pm.

In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be made in Roy’s honor to Windermere Presbyterian Church, 104 Windemere Road, Wilmington, NC 28405.
