Richard Allen Cate, 65, of Burgaw passed gently from his earthly life on Saturday, July 28, 2018 at his home.

He was born September 6, 1952 in Knoxville, Tennessee.

Richard is survived by his wife of 27 years, Katie Cate; son, Sam Cate and his wife, Melissa; daughters, Tabatha Koontz and her husband, Henry, and Jennifer Cate; step-son, Thomas Honke; ten grandchildren; nine great grandchildren; brothers, Bill Jenkins, Jr. and Jack Martin and his wife, Jill; mother of Sam Cate and Jennifer Cate, Vicky Bain and her husband, Larry "Buddy"; and many extended family and friends.

As a career choice, Richard was a skilled mechanic working on heavy equipment.

Richard loved his family. He was always happy with a smile on his face and ready to play a joke. Being a collector of many things, Richard had an amazing frog collection. His presence on this earth will be greatly missed.

Graveside funeral service will be 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, July 31, 2018 at Riverview Memorial Park with Rev. Jack Martin conducting the service. Burial will follow in Riverview Memorial Park.
