Richard Duffy O'Brien fell asleep in Jesus Wednesday, March 11, after a brief but fierce battle with cancer.

He was born May 6, 1948 and was preceded in death by both parents and his first wife, Shelby Dale O'Brien.

Visitation is from 6:00 to 8:00 pm on Friday, March 13, at Quinn McGowen Funeral Home and at 1:30 Saturday, March 14 at the Seventh-Day Adventist Church at 29th and Market St. in Wilmington followed by the funeral at 2:30.

Richard was a logger and pilot but his primary interest was telling people of the love of Jesus. He was a leader in his church and was a devoted husband and father. He was known for his love and kindness to all. He leaves behind his wife, Margie, three children and three stepchildren, 10 grandchildren, three sisters and two brothers, four stepsisters and one stepbrother and many, many friends. He will be greatly missed by all.
