Obituary

Richard Patrick Reeves, age 60, of Hampstead, North Carolina entered peacefully to eternal rest on Sunday, February 26, 2012 at his home as a result of heart failure.

He was born March 29, 1951 in Fort Dix, New Jersey, the son of the late Thomas T. Reeves, Sr. and Catherine Battaglia Reeves; and the brother of the late Thomas Jr. and Robert Reeves. He spent his younger years growing up in Meriden, Connecticut and attended Maloney High School. Richard proudly served his country in the US Army, serving in Vietnam and receiving a Purple Heart, Combat Infantry Badge, two Overseas Bars, National Defense Metal and Vietnam Service Metal. After returning from his tour of duty in Vietnam Richard enjoyed a career in packaging sales and in his most recent years worked in the construction industry as a master carpenter and builder. He had a warm, pleasant and vibrant personality that made people want to work with him. Anyone he worked with would smile when they saw him, and he always was interested in what you were doing or what you had to say. He was this way with everyone he met and he made friends wherever he went ... He will be missed.

Richard is survived by his daughter, Jessica; sisters, Mary Heiser (Steve), Betty Bowerman (Ed), and Rita Johnson (Perry); brother, James Reeves (Carol) and many nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins and friends who loved Richard very much.

Richard loved his family and was loved in return. Richard's family is grateful to God for his life and for your prayers and all acts of kindness shown to him. Richard was also grateful for all the assistance he received from the DAV. Contributions in Richard's memory may be made to the Disabled American Veterans, Chapter 11, 4601 Park Avenue, Wilmington, NC 28403.
