Richard "Rick" Rowland of Hampstead passed away on March 16, 2022 at the age of  73 at his home in Hampstead, NC.

Rick was a gregarious adventurer who saw every corner of the globe as he sailed the seas as Chief Engineer with the U.S. Coast Guard.

His work as an engineer led him to pioneer personal pursuits, to solve problems such as developing low emissions combustion systems and to develop sonar applications for widespread use in the energy industry. Also, Rick started up several successful businesses around the United States.

Rick took particular pride in the accomplishments and character of his children and grandchildren.

He is survived by his wife of 27 years, Susan Rowland; sons, John Rowland, Joseph Rowland, Robert Rowland, Stanley Foss, and Jeff Whitaker; step-daughter, Kristin Staubly; grandchildren, Samantha  Rowland, Jessica Rowland, Lyndsey Rowland, Gage Mace, Mckenzie Cutrell, and Summer Melton; brothers, Mark Rowland (Debbie) and Ronald Rowland (Candace); and several nieces and nephews.

Inurnment will be at a later date in Laketownship Cemetery in Millbury, Ohio.
