Richard Meredith Riley, 66, of Burgaw passed peacefully from his earthly life Tuesday, May 26, 2020, at New Hanover Regional Medical Center. He was born April 9, 1954, in Norfolk County, VA. to the late William and Barbara Fox Riley.

In addition to his parents, Richard was preceded in death by his sister, Karen Been.

Richard is survived by his loving wife of 45 years, Cindy Cauley Riley; children, Jeremy Riley (Rae), Raegan Riley (Jimmy), and Kristy Henley; grandchildren, Ethan, Lily, Zella; his twin brother, William Everett Riley (Nancy); sister, Devada "Babe" Martin; and many extended family and friends.

As a talented woodworker Richard's home is filled with many original  pieces of furniture and creations made by him.  He was an avid motorcyclist and logged over 100,000 miles on his Harley.  He also enjoyed a good game of golf, but his real passion was spending time with his grandchildren.  He never missed a chance to see their games and activities. Richard's passing leaves an empty place in our family circle and in our hearts.

There will be a Celebratation of Life service for Richard and Cindy at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, December 2, 2023 at Cora's Grove Pentecostal Free Will Baptist Church with Pastor Randy Little and the Reverend Dean Walker officiating.

The family will receive friends immediately following the service at the church.
