Richard Neal Woodcock, 64, of Atkinson passed from his earthly life Wednesday, January 25, 2023 at home.

He was born July 26, 1958 in Pender County, the son of Jay and Louise DeBose Woodcock, who preceded Richard in death.

Richard is survived by his sister, Diane W. Norris (Dale); nephew, Brandon Norris (Brittany); niece, Rebecca N. Retherford (Doyle); and many extended family members.

He was a member of Atkinson Baptist Church and for the past several years Richard attended United Faith Fellowship Church in Atkinson where he participated in Sunday school, Bible study and church services.

Richard was a man of many talents – years past he worked at the Pender Chronicle where he did photography as well as developing the pictures he took in their dark room. He was musically talented and played the piano quite well, as a youth playing at Caswell Presbyterian Church Sunday school. Richard would go out of his way to help someone or to volunteer at church or wherever he was needed.

A graveside service will be 2:00 p.m. Sunday at Atkinson Cemetery where he will be laid to rest with his parents. Pastor Don Yerby will conduct the service.
