Robert "Bob" Spencer Blake, age 77, of Burgaw died Tuesday, September 29, 2009 at McLeod Regional Medical Center in Florence, SC.
He was born September 3, 1932 in Wilmington, the son of the late Spencer Wright Blake and Thelma Ezzell Blake. He was also preceded in death by sister, Jean Blake Powell; brother, Ronald Blake and brother-in-law, Marvin Robinson.
Mr. Blake graduated from New Hanover High School and Wilmington College and he attended Lee College in Cleveland, TN. He served his country honorably in the US Army from 1953 to 1955, serving in Germany during the Korean Conflict. He spent most of his life in sales and marketing which he loved and was proficient in.
Surviving are his loving wife of fifty-six years, Marlene Robinson Blake of the home; brothers, James Donald Blake (Louise) of Wilmington and Jerry C. Blake (Wanda) of Clinton; sister-in-law, Launa Robinson of Burgaw and many devoted nieces, nephews and cousins.
The family will receive friends 1:00 to 2:00 pm on Friday, October 2, 2009 at Quinn-McGowen Funeral Home, Burgaw, followed by the funeral service at 2:00 p.m. with Pastor Richard Russell and the Rev. L. R. Teachey officiating.
Burial will follow in Burgaw Cemetery.
Casketbearers will be Keith Blake, Carlton Clark, Billy Powell, Richard Powell, Jason Rodenberg and Blake Clark.
