Robert Lee Bond, 65, of Burgaw passed gently from his earthly life to his eternal rest on Tuesday, September 9, 2014 at New Hanover Regional Medical Center. For the past 32 years during Robert's lengthy illness he was loved and given the best of care by his family.

He was born May 11, 1949 in Pender County, the son of Annie W. Bond and the late Acrel Bond. He was also preceded in death by his sister, Shirley B. Caison.

In addition to his mother, Robert is survived by his sister, Debbie B. Canupp (Jesse); Robert's angel, Peggy S. Whitley (Gerald); niece, Amanda Jones (Philip); nephews, Evans Caison and Waylon Crews; many extended family and friends.

Robert was a member of Moores Creek Baptist Church. As a young man he was a Pender County farmer, enjoying all of God's nature as he ploughed his fields and gathered his crops. He loved his family that cared so dearly for him. Robert had an inter strength and faith in his Lord that carried him through his lengthy illness. His family is grateful for every act of kindness and care given to Robert and to them for the past 32 years.

Funeral service will be 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, September 13, 2014 at Moores Creek Baptist Church with The Rev. Dr. Lynn Bullock and The Rev. Philip Eakins officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.

The family will receive friends 6 to 8:00 p.m. on Friday at Quinn-McGowen Funeral Home in Burgaw.
