Robert Lee Carpenter

Robert Lee Carpenter, 80, of Leland, North Carolina, passed away on Thursday, August 27, 2026, at home surrounded by his loving family.

He was born on May 31, 1946, in Poughkeepsie, New York, to the late Charles Lynne Carpenter and the late Elizabeth Weber Carpenter.

Robert is survived by his beloved wife of 60 Years, Helene Carpenter; his son, Keith Carpenter; his daughter, Carrie Shaffer; son-in-law, Morgan Shaffer; his grandchildren, Steven Trainor, Paul Trainor, Matthew Shaffer; sister-in-law, Diane Ackerman; his nephews, Jon David Carpenter, Raymond Ackerman; and his niece, Denise Ackerman.

In addition to his parents, Robert was also preceded in death by his brother, Fred Carpenter; his sister-in-law, Brenda Carpenter; and his brother-in-law, Leslie Ackerman.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in Robert’s honor to New Hanover Church, P.O. Box 16250 Wilmington, NC 28408 and Lower Cape Fear LifeCare Hospice.

A celebration of life will be at 1:30 pm on Thursday, September 3, 2026, at New Hanover Church, 318 Silver Lake Rd, Wilmington, NC 28412, with Pastor Joe Santee officiating. A reception at the church will follow the service.
