Robert Bayard
Corbett
November 4, 1949 – April 28, 2024
Robert Bayard Corbett, 74, of Wilmington, passed away early morning on Sunday, April 28, 2024.
He was born November 4, 1949 in Wilmington, the son of Bayard Zebulon Corbett and Lillian Hall Corbett. In addition to his parents Robert was preceded in death by his brother, John Wesley Corbett and nephew, Brian D. Corbett.
Robert is survived by his sisters, Brenda Corbett and Debra Peacock (Gary); brother, Greg Corbett; nieces, Jennifer Peacock (Chad), Jessica Smith (Ken), and Kelly Corbett; nephews, Eric Peacock (Jennifer), Adam Corbett (Tracy), Tim Corbett (Claire); great nieces, Emma Peacock and Anna Corbett; great nephews, Corbin Peacock, Nate Corbett, John Corbett, Lincoln Smith and Padraig Young. Robert was loved by many cousins and friends.
Robbert was a book author with three published novels and several written unpublished books, both fiction and nonfiction. Robert found joy in the escape from a good book and the companionship of animals. He found solace in the quiet moments, whether immersed in a novel or caring for his pets.
A special thanks to the ladies who worked in the office at University Place and June Richerson, who helped him so much after his stroke. Thanks also to many others who lent him a helping hand. With grateful appreciations to the doctors, nurses and aides that showed their compassion during his stay at Azalea Health and Rehab Center.
Even though we will miss Robert every day, we thank God he is no longer in pain. He was ready to go to his heavenly home.
A graveside service will be 1:00 p.m. Thursday, May 2, 2024 at Bethlehem Baptist Church Cemetery. The Reverend Ken Smith and Adam Corbett will conduct the service.
