He was born December 11, 1944 in Pollocksville, NC, the son of Homer Holley and Ruth Jarman Holly. In addition to his parents Robert was preceded in death by his first wife and mother of their two daughters, Delores Holley and also preceded in death by his second wife, Glenda Holley; and sister, Brenda Jarman.

Robert served his country honorably in the US Air Force, serving a tour of duty in Vietnam. He was retired from General Electric Company where he worked in the nuclear fuel division.

Robert was a man of many talents and skills, never letting his hands stay idle. In addition to his regular job at GE he owned and operated Sportsman Cabin in Rocky Point and was also a taxidermist. Robert loved the beauty of outdoor nature, the call of the forest and the river as he spent many treasured hours hunting and fishing. Always vigilant and attending to the needs of family and friends, these characteristics defined his very essence.
