Obituary

Robert Eugene Malone, age 74, of Rose Hill left this earthly life for his eternal rest on Tuesday, June 4, 2013 from his residence.

He was born November 13, 1938 in Durham County; the son of the late Christopher and Callie Cain Malone. He was also predeceased by his brother, Clarence Malone.

Robert served his country honorably in the US Army and later opened up his own building contractor business where he worked for 45 years.

Surviving to cherish his memory is his devoted wife of 50 years, Mary Frances Blanton Malone; children, Teresa Lynn James of Rose Hill, Mary Robin Brown (Greg) of Wallace, Wanda Gail Peterson (Steve) of Harrells, Timothy "Tim" Eugene Malone (Cindy) and Robert "Bob" Anthony Malone (Melony), all of Willard and Chris Malone of Raleigh; grandchildren, John Michael Malone, Ray Malone, Collin Malone, Shelton James, Michael James, Baylie Cavenaugh, Candace Malone, Kayla Malone, Heidi James and Emily Brown; great grandchildren, Braylie Cavenaugh and Allaiha Malone; brothers, Elwood Malone (Betty) of Rose Hill, Ed Malone and Frank Malone (Joyce Ann), all of Wilmington; sister, Carolyn Blanton (Johnny) of Rose Hill; his feline companions, "Buddy" and "Uggy" and numerous nieces, nephews and friends.

Funeral service will be at 12:00 Noon on Saturday, June 8, 2013 at Quinn-McGowen Funeral Home Wallace Chapel with Pastor Ronald Ginn officiating.

Burial will follow at Riverview Memorial Park, Watha.

The family will receive friends from 10:30 am to 12:00 Noon on Saturday before the service at the funeral home and other times at the home of Robert and Frances Malone.

Casketbearers will be John Michael Malone, Ray Malone, Collin Malone, Shelton James, Michael James and Jeremy Strickland.

Honorary casketbearers will be Bailey Cavenaugh, Candace Malone, Kayla Malone, Heida James and Emily Brown.

Robert was a loving husband and caring father, grandfather and brother who loved his family dearly. He was a hard worker that made sure his family was provided for in every way possible. With an outgoing personality and gentle spirit, Robert enjoyed being around people and dancing to beach and country music. As a building contractor, He enjoyed remodeling his and Mary's home. Robert's family is grateful to God for his life and for your kindness and prayers.
