Robert Earl Pickett, age 57, of Burgaw passed peacefully from his earthly life on Wednesday, October 24, 2012 at his home.

He was born July 18, 1955 in Pender County and was the son of the late Willie Theadus and Nellie Naomi Justice Pickett.

Robert leaves to cherish his memory his brothers, Willie Ezra Pickett (Bonnie), Bill Pickett, Jr. (Janet), Donnie Ray Pickett, Joseph Edward Pickett and Henry Lee Pickett (Pete); sisters, Nellie Ann Pickett (Raymond), Linda Sue Blake (Carmen) and Brenda Gail Flynn; many nieces and nephews including special nephews, Michael and Anthony Pickett.

Robert was a kind and gentle man who loved not only his family, but all of God's nature and creatures. Special to Robert were his dog "Puppy", cat "Kitty", chinchillas "his pigs", and Brenda's dog, Bongo. Robert had a kind heart, a warm smile and a feisty sense of humor that could brighten any rainy day. Robert always did his best to maintain a courageous attitude all through his lengthy illness. Fond memories of Robert dwell within our hearts.

A memorial service will be at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, October 27, 2012 at Quinn-McGowen Funeral Home Burgaw Chapel with the Rev. Rodney Bonham officiating.
