Robert "Bob" James Smith, age 78, of Burgaw died Wednesday, December 8, 2010 at New Hanover Regional Medical Center.

He was born July 5, 1932 in Duval County, Florida and was the son of the late Glenn A. Smith and Alice L. Hines Smith.

Surviving Bob is his friend and companion of 42 years, Robert "Bob" Saladino of Burgaw and many friends.

In accordance with Bob's request no services will be held at this time.

In memory of and as a tribute to Bob memorial donations may be given to New Hanover Humane Society, 2405 N. 23rd Street, Wilmington, NC 28401. Bob loved animals and always wanted them taken care of and treated kindly.
