Robert "Bobby" Lee Squires, 70, of Watha passed peacefully from his earthly life on Sunday, March 10, 2013 at New Hanover Regional Medical Center with family at his side.
He was born July 29, 1942 in Wilmington, the son of Adelaide Wallace Squires of Atkinson and the late Andrew Lee Squires.
In addition to his mother, Bobby is survived by his devoted wife of 37 years, Betty Lanier Squires; loving daughter and son-in-law, Stephanie S. and Andrew Foerster of Charlotte; brothers, Marion "Buddy" Squires (Genell) of Burgaw and Allan "Nick" Squires of Atkinson; and sister-in-law, Ellen Lanier of Watha; many extended family and friends.
Bobby was a faithful member of Mt. Holly Baptist Church. He was retired from General Electric Company Nuclear Fuel Division in Castle Hayne.
Bobby was a man of few words with a big heart and a great love for his family. He was a friend that you could call upon to help you anytime of the day or night. Bobby's quiet faith and thankfulness for his many blessings spoke clearly to his family and friends. He will be remembered as a gentle, soft spoken man who was the BEST husband, daddy, son, brother and friend anyone could ask for. Bobby will surely be missed by all who knew and loved him. Well done, thou good and faithful servant, enter into your rest.
Funeral service will be at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday at Mt. Holly Baptist Church with The Rev. Merrell McKoy, Jr. officiating. Burial will follow in Riverview Memorial Park.
The family will receive friends at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday at the church and at other times will be at the Squires residence.
