Obituary

Roma Lee Kelly, 77, retired medical lab technician and professional photographer died at her home Wednesday, February 16, 2011 after an extended illness. She was the youngest of four daughters born October 29, 1933 in Bladen county to Zannie Louis Squires and Fannie Mae Brown Squires. She is preceded in death by her parents; husband, John Kelly; and sister, Edna Squires Ceruzzi.

Roma Lee is survived by her sisters, Alice Squires Johnson (Lee Roy) of Atkinson and Lucille Squires Bramble (Billy) of Kelly. Numerous nieces and nephews are left to cherish her memory.

Roma Lee loved her family. She was a very contented, private person who took full advantage of all that life brought her way; quietly reading at home, traveling in the United States and abroad, taking a cruise, and most of all family gatherings. Roma Lee had an eye for beauty and organization. She was instrumental in the planning, construction and completion of the new Centerville Baptist Church building and she rejoiced with fellow church members on the day of the note burning. Roma Lee's love for her Lord, her church and her family was evidenced in all facets of her life. Her sweet spirit, gentle smile and warm heart will always be treasured and remembered.

Funeral service will be at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, February 19, at Centerville Baptist Church with the Rev. Ryan Carter officiating. Visitation will be at the church one hour prior to the funeral service.

Internment will follow the service at the Squires Family Cemetery in Kelly.

Casketbearers will be Mike Bramble, Gary Bramble, Roy Johnson, Wayne Applewhite, Gene Carlton and Bob Bergstedth.

The family would like to thank the staff of Lower Cape Fear Hospice for their care, guidance, and support during Roma Lee's extended illness and passing.
