Ronald Richard Atkinson, 91, of Hampstead gently passed from his earthly life on Friday, February 27, 2015 at Lower Cape Fear LifeCareCenter. He was born September 17, 1923 in Oneonta, New York. He was predeceased by his parents Richard and Alice Snyder Atkinson and his wife Henrietta Atkinson. Ronald was also predeceased by one child David Atkinson.

He is survived by two sons; Scott Atkinson and wife Roberta, and Corey Atkinson and wife Patricia both of Wilmington. His grandchildren are, Lisa, Erin, and Mckenzie and he has one great granddaughter, Olivia.

Ronald was a member of our country's Greatest Generation. He served his country honorably in World War II and again in the Korean War.

Ronald was blessed with a long and fruitful life. He lived a modest and humble life and was always looking out for others. He was always spending time with fellow citizens discussing ways we can better our community. He always chose ways to give back to his community in life and in his death. His duty to his country and family will be missed but never forgotten.
