Ronald Gordon Davis, age 78 years, of Rocky Point passed peacefully from his earthly life Saturday, August 26, 2023 at Novant Health New Hanover Regional Medical Center.

He was born February 7, 1945, the son of Gordon B. Davis and Carolyn Shurtleff Davis. In addition to his parents, Ron was preceded in death by his wife of 28 years, Barbara Hair Davis.

Ronald is survived by his children, Lisa E. Caison (Joe), Chris S. Elliott (Sherlon), Janet Stoudenmire, and Shannon Oakley; grandchildren, Chris Caison, Shane Caison, (Laura), Alex Caison (Hunter), Braden Elliott, Adam Elliott, Madi Coulter (Tyler), Brittany Perez (Will), Kristin Simon; great grandchildren, Mya Hamam, Zanie McBride, Savannah Perez, Sebastian Perez, Santiago Perez, Selene Perez, Thea Coulter, and Logan Coulter; and many friends.

Ron served his country in the US Marine Corps during the Vietnam Conflict.

He was known for his woodworking skills and as a contractor, owning Davis Home Improvements.

Ron had strong willpower and determination as he had earned his 40 year chip for sobriety, quite an accomplishment. He was sometimes rough on the outside but had a heart of gold on the inside. Ron was loved and will surely be missed.

The family will receive friends 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, August 29, 2023 at Quinn McGowen Funeral Home with funeral service beginning at 12 noon in the funeral home chapel with Pastor Jody Boothe conducting the service. Interment will follow in Burgaw Cemetery.

The family would like to express their sincere appreciation to Angela Howe for the excellent care she gave to Ron.
