Obituary

Ronald Grover Jones, age 65, of Willard, left this life for his eternal rest on Saturday, October 5, 2013 at Lower Cape Fear Hospice Care Center.

He was born March 7, 1948 in Duplin County; the son of the late Claudia Jones and Carrie Miller Hall Gurganious. He was also predeceased by his brother, Gordon Hall.

Mr. Jones served his country honorably in the US Army during the Vietnam Era.

Surviving is his loving wife of 47 years, Cherry Davis Jones; his son, Ronald "Ron" D. Jones of Charlotte; brother, Jimmy Jones of Ivanhoe; sisters, Joyce Kelly of Burgaw, Jean Gurganious and Joan Pickett (David) all of Ivanhoe; special aunt, Dollie Mae Southerland of Wallace and numerous nieces, nephews and friends.

Ronald was a devoted husband and caring father, brother and nephew who loved his family dearly. He was a hard working crop farmer who took his job seriously. A lover of the outdoors, Ronald enjoyed watching birds especially the Martins and taking care of his farm and family. He took great pride in his work and loved to takes walks over his farm as he watched his crops grow. At the end of their growing season, he enjoyed gathering the benefits of his hard labor. With a kind heart and gentle spirit, Ronald was always willing to lend a helping hand whenever needed. He loved others and was loved in return. Surely he will be missed but cherished memories will forever remain in the hearts of those who knew and loved Ronald Jones.

Funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, October 8, 2013 at Quinn-McGowen Funeral Home Wallace Chapel with the Rev. Gary Manning officiating.

Burial will follow in Gurganious Cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m., one hour prior the service on Tuesday at the funeral home.
