Roscoe Dee Smith, age 47, of Castle Hayne died Thursday, December 3, 2009 at New Hanover Regional Medical Center.

He was born January 24, 1962 in Ft. Benning, GA, the son of Lucy Harris Smith of the home and the late Charlie N. Smith, Sr. He was preceded in death by his nephew, Nicholas Lanier and his grandparents, Roscoe and Lydia Harris and Luby and Vivian Smith.

Surviving in addition to his devoted mother are his brothers, Charlie N. Smith, Jr. of Rocky Point and Kevin Smith of Burgaw; sister, Lydia Pariette Lanier of Rocky Point; nieces, Shanna Fulcher (Coley), Elizabeth "Charlie's other daughter" Mazur (Kris) and Jessica Lanier; great nephew, Chase Fulcher; several aunts and cousins; and special friend, Betsy.

The family will receive friends 12 noon to 2:00 p.m. Saturday, December 5, 2009 at Pike Rocky Point Presbyterian Church. At other times the family will be at the home of Charlie Smith, 192 Bellhammon Forest Rd, Rocky Point.

Following the visitation the funeral service will be at 2:00 p.m. at the church with The Rev. J. C. Young-Thompson officiating.

Graveside service will be 3:00 p.m. Sunday, December 6, 2009 at Gethsemane Memorial Park, Morehead City.

In lieu of flowers memorial gifts in memory of Roscoe may be given to Lucy Smith, 15 Castle Farms Rd., Castle Hayne, NC 28429.
