Rose Rivenbark Garriss, age 82, left this life for her eternal rest on Tuesday, November 15, 2011 from Brian Center of Wallace.
She was born April 4, 1929 in Pender County and was the daughter of the late Roscoe and Eva Wheeler Rivenbark. She was also predeceased by her husband, Amos David Garriss, Sr.; granddaughter, Karla Rivenbark; sisters, Mary Bell Pate, Louise Dempsey and Wilma "Billie" Young; and brothers, Clayton Rivenbark and Tommy Rivenbark.
Rose was a member of Watha United Methodist Church.
Surviving are her loving children, Amos David Garriss, Jr. and wife, Rita, Laura Susan Rivenbark and husband, Joe and Robert Allen Garriss, all of Watha, Debra Garriss Harrell and husband, Bruce of Willard, Eva Elizabeth "Libby" Hatcher and husband, Ronnie of Watha and Kelley Sue Tucker of Rose Hill; grandchildren, Joseph Lee Garriss, Ashley Rivenbark, Sara Rose Hatcher, Chris Garriss, Gregory Pigford, Macy Nicole Walker and Corben Tucker; great grandchildren, Madison Haileigh Garriss, Christa Lynn Rose Garriss, Bradford Rivenbark, Jayla Rivenbark, Hayden Pigford and Collin Pigford; step-grandchildren, Donna Harrell and Angel Veneica; step great grandchildren, Alexis, Aiden and Luke Venecia; adopted sister, Ida Mills of Watha and numerous nieces, nephews and friends.
Funeral service will be 2:00 pm Friday, November 18, 2011 at Quinn-McGowen Funeral Home Wallace Chapel with the Rev. John Fedoronko, the Rev. Timothy Mateer and the Rev. Ron Williams officiating. Burial will follow in Watha United Methodist Church Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 6-8 pm on Thursday, November 17, 2011, at Quinn McGowen Funeral Home in Wallace.
Casketbearers will be Needham Hall, Hoyt Smith, Wayne Wheeler, Ron Ezzell, Lawrence Mills and Wayne Ezzell.
Honorary casketbearers will be Ralph Davis and Larry Dempsey.
Rose was a devoted wife and a caring mother, grandmother, sister and friend. She found great joy in the simplest things, but her greatest joy was family. She was a lover of flowers, birds and people. With her warm heart and gentle spirit she was a good neighbor and friend to all who knew her. Rose will surely be missed but cherished memories of her will forever remain in the hearts of all who knew and loved her.
Memorial gifts may be given in Mrs. Rose's memory to Watha United Methodist Church, PO Box 224, Willard, NC 28478.
