Obituary

Rose Ann Teachey Gunter, 85, of Hampstead, NC, went home to be with the Lord on June 24th, 2022, at her home, surrounded by all of her children and their family.

Rose Ann was born in Island Creek Township near Wallace, NC on July 22, 1937. She lived and attended the Junior Order Children's Home in Lexington, NC and spent summers in Wallace with her family and friends. She would frequently say growing up a "home kid" was one of the best things that happened to her, teaching her valuable principles that guided her throughout her life. She was captain of her High School Basketball teams at Lexington High School and Wallace High school where she graduated after transferring in 1955. After graduation in 1956, she attended trade school in Nashville, TN learning to be a Linotype Operator. In that capacity, she worked for NASCAR, the Wallace Enterprise, and Wilmington Star News. She married Larry A Gunter of Savannah, GA in 1959 and celebrated 53 years of marriage with him. She loved sports throughout her life and enjoyed nothing more than attending games to cheer on her children and later her grandchildren when able. She was fiercely loyal to her family, a wonderful mother and caregiver, she felt God had blessed her life immensely. She never prayed for material things, only good health and to not outlive one of her kids; God answered her prayers.

Rose Ann is survived by her three children, Butch Gunter & wife Kate, Rob Gunter & wife Jennifer, and Millicent Bradshaw & husband Jim; four grandchildren, Thel Gunter, Grace Gunter, Jacob Gunter and Robbie Gunter; several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Rose Ann is preceded in death by her husband, Larry Gunter Jr., father Daniel Robert Teachey, brother William Sidney Teachey, and her beloved Aunt Margaret C Teachey.

The family would like to extend deep gratitude to her wonderful care givers, Sheryl Olson & Joanne Forbes and her care team with Lower Cape Fear LifeCare. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to The Robert Bruton Memorial Scholarship Fund, PO Box 1288, Lexington, NC 27293-1288 or by visiting ach-nc.org.
