Roy Marvin wells, age 83, of Burgaw passed gently from this earth to his Heavenly home on Thursday, October 21, 2010 at Pender Memorial Hospital.

He was born August 8, 1927 in Pender County, the son of the late Crumpler and Goldie Lanier Wells.

Surviving are his devoted family; his wife of 56 years, Elsie Chadwick Wells; daughter, Gail W. Royal (James) of Burgaw; son, Marvin Ray Wells (Cathy) of Watha; grandchildren, Rebecca, Amber, Carrie and Christopher; great granddaughter, Brookelyn; brothers, John H. Wells of Watha, Delmer Wells (Evelyn) of Wilmington, and Colton Wells (Hilda) of Rose Hill; sister, Bertha Wells of Watha; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Roy was a devoted husband and loving daddy, granddaddy, great granddaddy, brother and friend. Being a Godly man, he loved the Lord, praying with others and spending time reading his Bible. He enjoyed all of God's wondrous creations, especially the watching the birds that visited his bird feeder. Roy will be greatly missed, but never forgotten. So, we his family and friends say not goodbye, but only till later when we meet again in God's Heavenly Kingdom where we know Roy is in paradise, smiling in eternal peace.

The family will receive friends 2:00 to 3:00 p.m. Sunday, October 24, 2010 at Forest Hills Baptist Church. Following the gathering of family and friends a Celebration of the Life of Roy Wells will be at 3:00 p.m. at the church with The Rev. Timothy Cook, The Rev. Lenier Furr and The Rev. W. E. Smith officiating. Burial will follow in Wells Family Cemetery.

Casketbearers will be Milton Wells, Chris Wells, Danny K. Wells, Glenn Wells, Brent Wells and James Littleton.

In lieu of flowers memorial gifts in loving memory of Roy may be given to Quinn-McGowen Funeral Home, PO Box 1316, Burgaw, NC 28425.
