Rev. Roy Joseph Parker, age 81, passed away on Monday, October 2, 2023. Roy was born in Wilmington, NC and is the son of the late Ottis and Clyde Parker. Roy was preceded in death by his loving wife of 55 years Emma King Parker.

Roy graduated from Wilmington College and Southeastern Seminary. In 1968, Rev. Roy Joseph Parker was ordained in Dobson Chapel Baptist Church and began his ministry in Virginia with Windfall Baptist Church and Milton Baptist Church.  Roy was called back to North Carolina to serve as pastor for Fair Bluff Baptist Church, Hester Baptist Church, Momeyer Baptist Church and First Baptist Church of Richlands. Roy continued the Lord's work for Brookwood Baptist Church and New River Baptist Church Association Office in Jacksonville, North Carolina.

He is survived by his son, Tony Parker and his wife, Kristen; his daughter, Dotti Heinold and her husband Clint; five grandchildren, Kyle and Rebecca Parker, and Trace, Alex and Jackson Heinold; sister, Lualda Brinkley; sister-in-law, Sandra Boone; niece, Dawn Thompson;  nephews, Joey Brinkley and Wayne King; great-nieces, Anna Emery and Erin King; great-nephews, Patrick and Simon Emery, Austin Brinkley and Kyle King.

A funeral service to honor the life of Roy, will be held on Saturday, October 7, 2023 at 2:00 P.M. in the Dobsons Chapel Baptist Church, with the Rev. Joseph Needham officiating. Interment will follow in the Golden Groves Cemetery. The family will receive friends 1 hour prior to the service at the church.
