Obituary

Ruby Lee Rogers Blanton, 88, of Wilmington died Tuesday, March 4, 2014 at Northchase of Wilmington.

She was born July 18, 1925 in Duplin County and was the daughter of the late Perry Clifton and Killie Mae Robinson Rogers. She was also predeceased by her husband and father of her children, Elwood Lee Howard. She later married Norwood Blanton who is also predeceased as well as her sister, Frances Blanton; brother, James Clifton "J.C." Rogers and grandson, Jonathan Norris.

Mrs. Blanton is survived by her daughters, Betty Howard Malone and husband, "Tootie" of Rose Hill and Mary Frances "Pinkie" Riley and husband, Bob of Osterburg, PA; grandchildren, Patsy Malone Barden (Joel), Christopher Clifton Malone (Wendy), Amie Lee Malone Faircloth (Tim), Jack Johnson (Judy), Elaine Myers (Dale) and Rhonda Parker (Stacy); 17 grandchildren, 2 great-great grandchildren; special nieces, Diane Montgomery and Susan Vandergriff; nephews, Jimmy Rogers, Timmy Rogers and Bobby Rogers and great nieces and nephews.

Ruby was a devoted mother and caring grandmother and aunt who loved her family dearly. She enjoyed reading the Bible and was always ready to help those in need. With a green thumb, Ruby had a talent of growing beautiful flowers. She was also a great cook who enjoyed sharing with others. Ruby was a strong yet gentle woman who loved others and was loved in return. She will surely be missed but cherished memories will forever remain in the hearts of those who knew and loved Ruby.

Graveside funeral service will be at 3:00pm on Thursday, March 6, 2014 at Devotional Gardens in Warsaw with the Reverend Steve Cayton and the Reverend Ray Kennedy officiating.

The family will receive friends during the day and early evenings at the home of Tootie and Betty Malone.
