Ruby Butler Carter, age 82 formerly of 125 Pinecrest Parkway, passed away Monday, January 28, 2013 at Lower Cape Fear Hospice and LifeCareCenter.

Ruby was born May 12, 1930 to Thurman Allen Butler and Myrtle Hilburn Butler who preceded her in death. She was also preceded in death by her husband William C. Carter, Jr., her son Steven Carter, and brothers Franklin, Livingston and Wilton Butler.

She is survived by her children Becky Ellers (Frank), Bill Carter (Cynthia), Pam Futch (David) and Jack Carter, daughter in law Victoria Dinges, siblings William Butler, Mildred B. Lewis, Jennie Sue B. Bass, grandchildren Shannon E. Britt (Frankie), Milessa Ellers (Eric), Chelsea C. Smith (Ed), Hannah Carter, Dianna Carter and Colin Carter.

Ruby graduated from Bladenboro High School and James Walker School of Nursing in 1951. She retired from nursing after 40 years in Labor and Delivery. She loved her Lord,grandchildren gardening and traveling.

The family will receive friends from 6:00 - 8:00 PM, Thursday, January 31, 2013 at Quinn-McGowen Funeral Home, Bradley Creek Chapel where a Funeral service will be 11:00 AM, Friday, February 1, 2013. Burial following the service in Greenlawn Memorial Park.
