Obituary

Ruby Brock Johnson, age 84, of Wallace died Monday, June 16, 2008 at her residence.

She was born August 1, 1923 in Duplin County and was the daughter of the late Cyrus and Minnie Blalock Brock. She was predeceased by her husband, Charlie Samuel Johnson; one sister and two brothers.

Mrs. Johnson worked as hair dresser at Ballard's Beauty Shop for several years before she purchased and became owner of Ruby's Beauty Shop in Wallace where she worked for fifty-two years. As a faithful member of Bethel Wesleyan Church,she served as tithing secretary, taught Sunday School and founded CYC for the youth of the church. Ruby truly had a heart for others and was loved dearly. She will be greatly missed.

Surviving are her sons, Tim Williams and wife, Jean of Rose Hill and Charlie "Chuck" Johnson and wife, Myra, of Knoxville, TN; grandchildren, Lorea W. Darnell and Troy Lee Williams both of Rose Hill, Kimberly Bova and Christian Parrott both of Knoxville, TN; great grandchildren, Tanner Lee Williams, Kayla Parrott, Michael Wright and Kade Parrott; special friends, Dot Baker and Audrey Brown of Wallace; Bible Class of Bethel Wesleyan Church and numerous nieces, nephews and friends.

The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Wednesday, June 18, 2008 at Quinn-McGowen Funeral Home in Wallace, two hours prior to the funeral service.

Funeral services will be 8:00 pm Wednesday, June 18, 2008 at Quinn McGowen Funeral Home Wallace Chapel with the Rev. Philip Siebbeles officiating.

In lieu of flowers memorial gifts may be given in Mrs. Ruby's memory to Bethel Wesleyan Church Building Fund, 2635 S. NC Hwy 11, Rose Hill, NC 28458 or Southern Wesleyan University, Scholarship Fund for Charlie S. Johnson, PO Box 1020, Central, S.C. 29630-1020.
