Ruby Cathern Rivenbark, age 70, of Rocky Point died Thursday, November 19, 2009 at New Hanover Regional Medical Center.

She was born September 1, 1939 in Pender County, the daughter of the late Gurley and Geneva Bonham Lunsford. She was predeceased by her husband, Robert Henry Rivenbark; an infant son and daughter; and brother, Morris Lunsford.

Surviving are her son, Jerome Rivenbark of Rocky Point; granddaughters, Hannah Rivenbark and Carrie Rivenbark; mother of Hannah and Carrie, Tammy Rivenbark of Wilmington; brothers, Robert Lunsford (Marie), Bill Lunsford (Betty), Howard Lunsford (Faye) and Wayne Lunsford (Lynette) all of Rocky Point; sister-in-law, Mercelle Lunsford of Wilmington; and dear friends, Joyce Futch and Joyce and Jimmy Pope.

Ruby was a devoted and loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend. Being a devout Christian, she loved the Lord, preaching and sharing God's grace with others. She loved all of God's nature, but especially her flowers. Remembered are her warm heart, gentle grace and sharing spirit. Cherished memories of Ruby will forever remain in our hearts.

Graveside funeral service will be 11:00 a.m. Saturday, November 21, 2009 at Mt Holly Baptist Church Cemetery with the Rev. Lewis Wescott officiating.

The family will receive friends 6:00 to 8:00 pm Friday, November 20, 2009 at Quinn-McGowen Funeral Home in Burgaw.
