Ruby Lee Johnson Wallace, 87, of Magnolia, NC left this earthly life for her eternal rest on Thursday, January 21, 2016 from New Hanover Regional Medical Center in Wilmington.
She was born on October 13, 1928 in Warsaw, NC and was the daughter of the late Jack and Nursie Reaves Johnson. She was also preceded in death by her daughter, Janette Zell; sisters, Eloise Johnson and Dorothy Giddings and brother, Jack Johnson.
Ruby was a dedicated member of United Fellowship Pentecostal Free Will Baptist Church and faithfully attended as long as her health permitted.
Surviving is her loving daughter, Joyce Godfrey and husband, Montie of Willis, TX; grandson, Michael Godfrey of Willis, TX; granddaughters, Paige and Shannon Zell; sisters, Catherine Jones of Wallace, Mattie Cavenaugh of Rose Hill, Hattie Murray and husband, Frank also of Rose Hill, Frances Hall and husband, Billy of Magnolia and Lois Mobley and husband, Harold of Rose Hill; brother, James Johnson and wife, Melva of Fayetteville and numerous nieces, nephews and friends that loved Ruby dearly.
Ruby was a loving mother and caring grandmother, sister and friend. She found great joy in the simplest of things, but her greatest joy was family. Ruby was a woman of uncommon character, beauty and grace, an instrument of God's love on this earth. She enjoyed spending time with her family and keeping up with world events by watching Fox News. Ruby loved the Lord and she set a great example for others by the life she lived. She was never ashamed of her faith and boldly witnessed to everyone she met about Jesus. Being a friend to all, she looked for and encouraged the best in everyone. Ruby will surely be missed, but treasured memories of her will forever remain in the hearts of those who knew and loved her.
Funeral service will be held at 3:00 pm on Sunday, January 24, 2016 at Quinn-McGowen Funeral Home, Wallace Chapel with her pastor, Buddy Mitchell officiating. Burial will follow in Devotional Gardens in Warsaw.
Casketbearers will be Harvey Jones, James F, Johnson, Dennis Chambers, Frank Murray, Jr., Glenn Mobley and William Hall.
The family will receive friends from 2:00 to 3:00 pm Sunday, one hour prior the funeral service at the funeral home.
